Q: When do my taxes come due?
A: Summer tax bills go out July 1 and are due by September 14 to townships, villages & cities. Winter tax bills go out December 1 and are due by February 14 to the township or city. You should contact your township, village, or city treasurer if you do not receive a tax bill.

Q: Can I make partial payments on taxes?
A: Yes, we accept partial payments on delinquent taxes.

Q: How long can I let my taxes go before I lose my property?
A: You only have 2 years after they become delinquent on March 1 of every year. 

Q: Can I pay my taxes by mail?
A: Yes, send check, cashiers check or money order with parcel/property number written on check. Payments for taxes that are going into forfeiture or are going to be foreclosed cannot be paid by personal check. Always call for the correct amount due. 989-831-7334


Q: What do I need to get a dog license?
A: A valid rabies certificate and spay or neuter certificate.

Q: When do I need to get a dog license?
A: State law requires a dog to be licensed by the age of four (4) months. You purchase your license in the month that your vaccination was given.

Q: Can I get my dog license by mail?
A: Yes, send check, cashiers check or money order with proof of rabies and spay or neuter certificate - all papers will be returned.

Q: Do you accept credit cards?
A: Yes, a credit card payment service is offered by calling toll free: 888-480-8552. M-F 8am-5pm Closed for lunch 12pm-1pm.  A 2.5% service fee is charged to you the consumer by PayGov.

Q: I can't pay my taxes; do I have any help available?

A: There are several agencies where some assistance is available. They may not be able to pay your taxes, but they may be able to help with other expenses, which would free up some money for your property taxes.

Q: I am active with the military; can I get any help with my property taxes?

Q: Is there any help for me if my home needs repairs?

A: There may be help through Rural Development, a federal program which is part of the Dept. of Ag. http://www.rurdev.usda.gov/mi/default.htm

Q: Is it possible to get my property taxes exempted?

A: You may qualify for a poverty exemption. Each year you must petition your local board of review. There is a form that must be filled out which you can get from your local assessor. Your income must meet certain guidelines.
