The Probate Court handles estates, guadianships of adults (legally incapacitated individuals), guardianships of minors, guardianships of developmentally disabled persons, conservatorships of minors, conservatorships of adults, adoptions, name changes, delayed registration of foreign births, trust proceedings, mentally ill proceedings, and wills for safekeeping.

The Juvenile Division of the Family Court handles neglect/abuse proceedings, juvenile delinquency proceedings, emancipations, personal protection orders against minors, and parental waivers.  The Juvenile Court is located in the Court Complex next to the Friend of the Court and may be contacted at (989) 831-7308.  You may also find information regarding these types of cases on their web page.
