Logging Camps
Early lumber camps [Click here to view full size picture] Lumber days 1880's, Stanton
Montcalm County was on the southern end of a large white pine forest and logging camps were located throughout the county. The buildings of the logging camp did not have foundations, they were built right on the ground with log sidewalls and split logs covered with wood shakes for the roof.
