Flour & Grist Mills
French & Slaght flour and grist mill, first mill in Greenville, built 1851 Flour mills ground grain into coarse flour while grist or grain mills ground the grain for livestock feed. Early mills used hardwoods for the grinding wheels until the miller could purchase a set of stone wheels which lasted longer and ground the flour to a finer consistency.
