County Offices Closed, Friday, May 24, 2013 and Monday, May 27, 2013

Montcalm County Offices will be closed on Friday, May 24, 2013 for a furlough day and on Monday, May 27, 2013 for the Memorial Day Holiday.

 

County offices will also be closed on Friday, July 5th; Friday, August 9; and Friday, August 30th for furlough days as well.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day

The Household Hazardous Waste Collection day for Montcalm County residents will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Road Commission for Montcalm County, 619 W. Main Street in Stanton.  This event will be the only county funded household hazardous waste collection date for 2013.

 

In addition to household hazarous waste, we will also be recycling household electronics and old tires.  Residents will be charged $1.00 per passenger car tire recycled; all other materials will be free of charge.

Accepting Bids for the Sale of Property on Townline Lake

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners are accepting sealed bids for the sale of property located on Townline Lake in Cato and Belvidere Townships.  The property is lot number 332 in Honeymoon Heights, has 58' of lake frontage and 80.15' of road frontage on Lakeshore Drive.

 

The property can be viewed by appointment by contacting the Office of the County Controller at 989-831-7300.

 

Sealed bid proposals marked "Townline Lake Property" are due in the Office of the County Controller, 211 W. Main Street, PO Box 368, Stanton, MI, by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2013.

Job Opening - Office Assistant Circut Court Clerk's Office

Montcalm County is currently accepting applications for an Office Assistant for the Circut Court Clerk's Office.  Applications must be submitted to the Montcalm County Controller's Office, at 211 W. Main Street, PO Box 368, Stanton, MI  48888, by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2013.  Applications can be picked up outside of the Office of the County Controller or obtained online by clicking here.

Dog Law Enforcement Ordinance Amendment

The Montcalm County Board of Commissioners at its regular meeting on January 28, 2013 adopted the Montcalm County Dog Law Enforcement Ordinance as amended in 2013.  The sections of the ordinance that were changed are as follows:

 

Section 4.4 Kennel Specifications

Section 5.9 Exotic Species

 

A full copy of the amended ordinance can be examined Monday through Friday in the Office of the County Controller located on the Third Floor of the Administrative Building, at 211 W. Main Street, Stanton, Michigan between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning May 3, 2013 or can be viewed online by clicking here.

 

The electorate of Montcalm County has the right to challenge the adoption of this ordinance.  If a petition signed by not less than 20% of electors residing in Montcalm County asking that the ordinance be submitted to electors of the county for approval or rejection is filed with the Montcalm County Clerk within fifty (50) days after the publication, the ordinance shall not take effect until it is approved by a majority of the electors of Montcalm County voting on that issue at a regular or special election called for that purpose.

Ford Lincoln Park Openings

We have several recent openings for Ford Lincoln Park.  We have avability for week long stays for the weeks of May 27th - June 3rd; June 10th - June 17th and June 17th - 24th.  County residents can rent the park for the week for $880 and non-residents for $1,320.00; a refundable security deposit of $100 is also required for all reservations.

Public Hearing on Proposed Amendments to the County's General Plan

The Montcalm County Planning Commission is in the process of amending the Montcalm County General Plan.  A Public Hearing to gather public input has been scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jack Van Harn Board of Commissioners Room located on the third floor of the County Adminitration Building at 211 W. Main Street, Stanton.  The public is invited to attend and present its comments on the proposed amendments.  For those wishing to view the proposed amendments online, you may do so by clicking here.  The proposed amendments to the General Plan may be examined Monday through Friday in the Office of the County Controller, 211 W. Main Street, 3rd Floor, Stanton, MI between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. beginning Thursday, April 18, 2013.

Free Electronics Recycling Event

The Village of Lakeview is hosting a free electronic recycling event.  The Comprenew e-Drop trailer is located in the Village parking lot next to the Post Office, and is open to all Montcalm County Residents.  The event will run from Thursday, Monday, May 20th thru Tuesday, June 4th, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.
