Apply to the Planning Commission for rezoning
The Zoning Administrator staff assists applicant with creating a petition that is sent to the Planning Commission. The petition requests that the Zoning Ordinance be redesignated as a different zoning district (which is a Zoning Ordinance map change) or revise district language (a Zoning Ordinance text change) for the area including the applicant's property.

The Planning Commission holds a public hearing, reviews the Zoning Ordinance Petition and approves or denies based on comparing proposed use to Rezoning Evaluation Checklist. The Planning Commission should not consider the proposed project, but proposed use. The Planning Commission then makes a recommendation to the legislative body.

The legislative body can hold several public hearings, reviews Zoning Ordinance Petition, and approves or denies based on comparing the proposal to the Township's Evaluation Checklist Standards, or seeks additional consideration.
