The hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 pm. The shelter is closed from Noon to 1 pm. for lunch.

Enforce the dog laws of Montcalm County and the State of Michigan. Sell dog licenses. Animal Shelter operation.

Maintain general patrol of entire county to pick up stray dogs, write citations on loose dogs. Pick up owned dogs upon request from owner. Write citations for people who do not have a dog license. We answer all complaints that people make. Regardless of whether it is a dog or other type of animal we check it out. We have 3 full-time animal control officers and 1 part-time officer/census taker. There is always one person in the office during business hours. The others are out within the county.

The Animal Control office also operates an animal shelter for dogs and cats that have been received by the department.
