Christmas Trees
There are 54,000 acres and 830 farms in commercial Christmas tree production in Michigan.
Montcalm County has 24 Christmas Tree Operations which are growing 4,500 acres of trees.

Michigan ships about 3.2 million trees to every state east of the Mississippi. Nationally there are approximately 35 million real Christmas trees sold each year.

Christmas trees are grown in every county in the state of Michigan.




The top five counties for Christmas tree production are:
  • Wexford
  • Missaukee
  • Oceana
  • Montcalm
  • Kalkaska

Michigan growers produce over eight different tree species for Christmas trees. This includes:
  • Scotch pine
  • Douglas-fir
  • Colorado Blue spruce
  • Fraser fir
  • White Spruce
  • Balsam fir
  • White pine
  • Concolor fir
